Cink, 'Tek Knew Each other at Tech

Tournament leader Stewart Cink graduated from Georgia Tech in 1995, a year after Jason Varitek left the school and two years after Nomar Garciaparra departed to enter the amateur draft.

Cink says he's still cordial with both players and still occasionally runs into Varitek, who lives near Cink's home course, East Lake Golf Course in Atlanta.

"I've seen him at the driving range a couple of times, at a few charity events, but he's pretty private," Cink said. "We always catch up on things, but our schedules are (very divergent)."
